BONDiNG on Netflix | Narrative

I just accidentally binge watched the latest Netflix Original Series “BONDiNG”. Granted it’s a short series, only 7 episodes, and each episode is under 20 minutes, so that’s not that big of an accomplishment. Still accidentally watching an entire series is something I don’t usually do.

It is rated TV-MA and is probably too risque for broadcast TV. It’s obviously intended for a mature audience, but we’re never actually shown full nudity or sex. There is some swearing, a burlesque and strip club, and some people will certainly feel uncomfortable watching because of the content.

It follows two friends as they work in the BDSM industry. Our star, Mistress May, is a Psychology student by day and Dominatrix by night. She hires her gay childhood friend “Carter”, now an aspiring comedian, to be her assistant. As they work together both characters grow and start to overcome their problems.

Our stars are not prostitutes, they don’t have sex with their clients, they dominate them. One client pays to be kidnapped, another pays to be a housekeeper, and yet another pays to be tickled.

My impression after watching the series is “Wow”. I’ve never given much thought to this lifestyle before, I have no clue how realistically it was portrayed, but it was certainly a better presentation then we typically see in the media (though as the preview shows it does have the stereotypical leather clad Dominatrix whip scene).

If you are not offended by sexual things, and have an open mind, I recommend watching at least the first episode. The preview is below.
