As this is the third article in my Meet the Chain Guardians series, hopefully you have already seen my blurb about the game. If you missed it, and solely clicked because Celia is cute, here’s the quick summary:

Chain Guardians is an upcoming anime and cryptocurrency/blockchain inspired turn based strategy game. Though it is a crypto inspired game, for the most part it looks and plays like a traditional game.

Even though the game is only in alpha, we have already seen a lot of different characters. There are the extremely rare main guardians Bitsee, Seth, Mudra, Dasha, and Lolita. Then there are uncommon characters such as Captain Devex Attazer and the “robots”. Lastly there are the common Lieutenants and disposable soldiers.

In my opinion, the uncommon robots are the sweet point in the game. They are reasonably priced and have a decent quantity available. They are on the blockchain, so while they may get temporarily knocked out, nothing can actually take them from you. This means you only have to pay for them once. They also have strong stats, making them very helpful early on. The downside is, they do not gain experience so eventually you will need to upgrade your team.

There are currently “two” robots available — Celia Nexa and Kumabaggu. The reason that is in quotes is that Celia comes in multiple versions, one for each element. The picture at the start of this post is her fire version, and above you can see her water version.

According to the lore, Celia is supposedly modeled after a “powerful messiah”. Unless there is a new character we have yet to meet, I expect this messiah was Bitsee since Celia can easily pass for her little sister. My personal theory is not that she was modeled after Bitsee, but that Bitsee made the original modeled after her sister. After all, the promo video clearly shows us Bitsee is technologically savvy enough to make an energy sword.

We have only seen the R100 (fire) and B100 (water) models at this point, but they were both designed with the same purpose in mind. They are specialized for search, rescue, and recovery operations in extreme environments. This further fuels my belief that they were made by Bitsee as she is driven to find her family.

Unfortunately I cannot test my Celia’s in the alpha yet, but we do get a glimpse of one on an opposing team. She was a tough opponent!

That brings us to Kumabaggu. He has it rough, he is a bear backpack with a human-like consciousness. Needless to say, he is constantly annoyed by this, and is rumored to be quite dangerous. He also is not implemented in the alpha yet, and is not an enemy in any of the levels I have cleared so far. He does not currently have an element associated with him, and he is most often seen with the guardian Lolita.

Though he is not yet available in the Chain Guardians alpha, he is implemented in another cryptogame, Ethermon. He’s a decently strong monster there who is a member of my ranked PVP team.

If you would like to learn more about Ethermon, you can read my newbie’s guide here. Unfortunately there is currently a bug which is preventing the Dapper Wallet from working correctly in the game, so it may be a little while before you can test it out for free. Don’t worry, the devs are on top of things and a fix is coming!

There will undoubtedly be more robots joining the Chain Guardian universe in the future, and I look forward to meeting them!
