MLB Champions Daily Quest Analysis

On April 18th MLBC rolled out a new feature, daily quests. They took a different approach than most mobile games, rather than simply giving a prize for completing an arbitrary task, you are given the option to purchase a figure with a specific base or glove/bat for the team of your choice. This creates an excellent cap sink for the market, and gives players the chance to get stronger figures for their favorite teams. It makes it much easier to move into higher divisions.

This hasn’t been without its issues though. I’ve seen numerous people complaining about getting the wrong figures. The prices also are currently in flux as Lucid Sight tries to balance the market. For those reasons, plus my own curiosity, I have been keeping careful track of the quests. This article discusses what they have done so far.

April 18th

  • Metallic Bellinger promo for 15,000 Caps
  • Daily Quest — Diamond Bat for 10,000 Caps
Picture from the in app store screen.

While not a daily quest in itself, the Metallic Bellinger promo was basically the announcement for the quest feature. Unfortunately this made a lot of people upset as Metallic Bellingers were an extremely rare and valuable figure last year. This promotion really hurt the value of the existing figures. That being said, for new players it was a great addition, allowing them to easily get a popular player on a rare base. There were multiple versions, but being metallic means they all had strong power.

There are various other poses and combos as well. I really like how the ruby glove looks, so its my favorite.

That same day, to much less fanfare, a new purchase option showed up under team packs. It was labeled as “Daily Quest -Diamond Bat Pro Figure” and was purchasable once for the team of your choice. Once you bought it from one team, the option disappeared from all other teams.

To the best of my knowledge, these draws are fully randomized. Unfortunately I haven’t had the chance to compare same team draws to be sure. At the very least, across teams there seems to be wide variety between each figure.

Here are some of the figures I’ve seen drawn. Let me know who you drew in the comments below.

April 19th

On the 19th we were given the chance to get an Iridescent Glove for 10,000 Caps. Like Diamond, Iridescent is considered to be Ultra Rare (Purple). Below you can see a sample Yankee and Astros figure.

In addition to those figures, I have the stats for a Red Sox player. Unfortunately I do not have a proper photo available.

April 20th

The price increased to 15,000 caps on the 20th. This time you received a figure with a Jade Bat. It costs more because Jade is Legendary (Yellow) instead of Ultra Rare like the previous quests.

This is also about the time I started noticing people commenting on issues with their draws. It sounded like some people did not get the promised figures and I saw at least one figure which didn’t make sense.

This is also when I received confirmation that not all figures had the same base as I’ve seen two bronze draws and a silver.

A Yankees pitcher with a bat doesn’t make any sense, the American League uses Designated Hitters. Also, historically all MLBC pitchers have had gloves by default.

April 21st

The price increased once again on the 21st. This time it cost 20,000 caps for a Legendary (Yellow) Ruby Glove.

Since Ruby and Jade are about the same rarity, this was presumably done as a balancing change. They are likely trying to set a base market value for different traits.

April 22nd

The 22nd brought a big change to the daily quests. Instead of a single item available for purchase we now had access to three different items, each with a different rarity and cost.

  • The Rare (Blue) Cheetah Glove was available for 5,000 caps.
  • The Ultra Rare (Purple) Gold Glove was available for 10,000 caps.
  • The Legendary (Yellow) Ruby Glove was available for 20,000 caps.

This massively raised the daily cap cost, making it so a casual player has to put in some effort to get all three.

April 23rd

On the 23rd the Daily Quest purchases were moved to the end of the Team Packs list. This was purely a cosmetic change, but it did mean you were less likely to buy the 100 Diamonds Common pack by mistake. The options were:

  • Rare (Blue) Zebra Glove for 5,000 caps.
  • Ultra Rare (Purple) Diamond Glove for 10,000 caps.
  • Legendary (Yellow) Jade Glove for 20,000 caps.

The options on the 24th were:

  • Rare (Blue) Snake Glove for 5,000 caps
  • Ultra Rare (Purple) Iridescent Glove for 10,000 caps
  • Legendary (Yellow) Sapphire Glove for 20,000 caps

I want to assure you the below image is NOT an error. I received a Sapphire bat as a Snake draw. For me it was a good day, I ended up receiving two sapphire figures from the daily quests. Others were not so lucky and didn’t receive any. They have since opened support tickets with Lucid Sight about it.

April 25th

On the 25th they changed things up and gave out bases instead. Personally I think the prices should differ for bases as last year they had more weight than gloves or bats. Of course they could be weighted differently this year. Regardless of the reason, the pricing remained the same.

  • Rare (Blue) Silver Base for 5,000 caps.
  • Ultra Rare (Purple) Gold Base for 10,000 caps.
  • Legendary (Yellow) Lava Base for 20,000 caps.

The 26th was back to three gloves again.

  • Rare (Blue) Cheetah Glove for 5,000 caps.
  • Ultra Rare (Purple) Iridescent Glove for 10,000 caps.
  • Legendary (Yellow) Jade Glove for 20,000 caps.

April 27th and Beyond

While I am still recording data on draws for these, I haven’t yet collected pictures of the various figures.

The 27th was more or less the same as previous days:

  • Rare (Blue) Zebra Glove for 5,000 caps.
  • Ultra Rare (Purple) Gold Base for 10,000 caps.
  • Legendary (Yellow) Jade Bat for 20,000 caps.

The 28th saw a sizable price increases:

  • Rare (Blue) Snake Bat for 5,000 caps.
  • Ultra Rare (Purple) Iridescent Bat for 20,000 caps.
  • Legendary (Lava) Base for 40,000 caps.

These increased prices have unfortunately priced out my helpers, so I’ll likely be limited to one or two draws each day going forward. I expect these prices will remain the same for at least a week and wouldn’t be surprised if they increased further.
