At the risk of making it seem like this will become a food blog (Don’t worry! It won’t), I am posting a second burger review today. I’m on a much needed staycation from work, the weather was surprisingly good, and my wife once again bought a random type of burger. How could I say no to grilling again?

This post is more for me than any readers who may stumble over it. All sorts of random food show up in my fridge. Different brands, styles, and flavors, I never know what I’ll find. I also never remember which ones are good. By writing this I can remind myself for the future and get a little reviewing practice in.

Unless these last two posts get a massive amount of interest, my next post will be more of what my existing followers expect.

Today’s turkey burgers were courtesy of Trader Joe’s. Their product page has an excessively detailed description. To summarize: four frozen burgers, under $4, which are good for a quick and easy meal.

The packaging was simple, a small box, plastic bag inside and four burgers separated with paper. The burgers were ready for the grill in under a minute. The box said to cook them between 6 and 8 minutes per side.

Cooking was indeed quick, I tossed the turkey burgers, as well as a couple beef burgers and a pack of dogs, on the grill for 6 minutes to start. They seemed a bit undercooked when I flipped them so I cooked the otherside for 8. Then since they weren’t quite up to 165 I flipped them again and cooked them an additional 3 minutes. Normally I would have done 2, but I lost a bit too much heat trying to get a photo.

Overall the burgers had a very light turkey taste and very smooth texture. They were definitely some of the more bland turkey burgers I’ve had. They also were a little dry, and I’m not sure if that was my overcooking them or just how they are. They did not elicit any strong feelings from myself or my wife. That being said, they failed the toddler test. He dumped his plate off the table and demanded “MORE HOT DOG!” His reaction was hardly surprising considering the blandness of the burgers, of course a toddler is going to want the super salty hot dogs over something with a lighter taste.

The final verdict: throw on your favorite toppings and they are definitely a quick and cost effective dinner option.

As always, thanks for reading!
