On Thursday the MLB season officially begins with Yankees/Nationals and Giants/Dodgers. Compete for bragging rights and (optionally) in game caps.

Since Lucid Sight hasn’t given us any news regarding MLB Champions or live game play since June 12th, I have taken it upon myself to run a simple fantasy challenge to remind them we are still here and really want some sort of live game play in addition to the tap game.

To my knowledge, there is very little reason they cannot reuse the bulk of the code from last year to run something this year. They can trim it down by commenting out the figure generation side and simply reward caps using their existing functions. They might have to adjust the API calls a little bit to account for any changes implemented by MLB, but really that’s simple text parsing.

The rules are simple, fill out the following form with a team of 12 players. I’m going to dump it into a spreadsheet and run some simple math based on the box score after the games.

An entry consists of:

  • Catcher
  • First Baseman
  • Second Baseman
  • Shortstop
  • Third Baseman
  • Three Outfielders
  • Three Pitchers
  • Designated Hitter

Scoring is simple:

  • Player At Bat (AB) 1 Point
  • Player Scores a Run (R) 10 Points
  • Player Hits the Ball (H) 5 Points
  • Player gets Base on Balls (BB) 5 Points
  • Player Hits a Double 10 Points
  • Player Hits a Triple 15 Points
  • Player Hits a Homerun 20 Points
  • Pitcher Innings Pitched (IP)IP x 10 Points
  • Pitcher Strike Outs (SO) 10 Points

Whether or not its a good scoring system, I don’t know. Its a simple one which is roughly inspired by the MLBC scoring.

For BONUS points, when you fill out the form, you can provide the link to a minted figure you own for the player on Cryptoslam. You should also tell me what year the figure is and its rarity (its why you have such a large answer box). This will give bonus points!

Screenshot from the entry form.

Bonus Points:

  • Minted 2020 Figures will score an extra 10% Points
  • Uncommon (Green) Figures will score an extra 2.5% Points
  • Rare (Blue) Figures will score an extra 5% Points
  • Epic (Purple) Figures will score an extra 7.5% Points
  • Legendary (Yellow) Figures will score an extra 10% Points

The Winner:

The winner will be whoever scores the most points after modifiers. Not only will they get bragging rights, but they will also have the options of earning up to 5000 caps. (I know the prize is worthless if MLBC is truly abandoned).

Prize will be “distributed” through the game market. Actual prize will be either the number of points you scored, or 5000 caps, whichever is lower. I will tell the winner the actual score, and if they want to receive the caps they simply need to put a common figure on the market at the specified price and I’ll buy it.

Once again, if interested fill out this form. You have until 5PM Eastern July 23rd to enter.

Again, the form can be found here: https://forms.gle/bR1qY9AuXuKyASCF6
